Creative Edition

Tangent Creative Edition is for artists and designers who want to make their creative practices self-sustaining.

Art and design schools teach creatives how to be an excellent artist and/or designer: fabrication techniques, how to build a portfolio, the mechanics of exhibiting at a show, roadmaps to landing an agency job. Grad shows often exhibit incredibly well-made pieces that could become commercially viable. Yet once the shows wind down, most of that work has nowhere to go. What students are unaware of is how to make a creative practice self-sustaining, on the creative’s own terms.

The idea that entrepreneurship could be a legitimate path for creatives is less explored as compared to that of working under an agency or within a larger corporation. Tangent Creative Edition focuses on this other half of the creative life: the practical craft of building a creative and artistic practice that can sustain you, on your own terms.

This edition is run in collaboration with Tusitala.
